Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued the notice to Interior Ministry in a petition filed by a member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) praying to the court to direct the respondent government to take action against the elements involved in the sale and purchase of kidneys. The court, while directing interior ministry and Speaker National Assembly, Chief Secretary Punjab, to submit their replies within 10 days, observed that the matter is of serious nature, hence the respondents should submit their replies within stipulated period of time.
The petitioner M D Tahir contended that poor people were selling their kidneys due to facing financial problems. He said doctors were also involved in that illegal business and in last three years around 1.5 million people had sold out their kidneys in Punjab.
He said the respondent government has neither taken any action against this heinous business nor formulated any law in that regard. He prayed to the court to direct the respondents to take action against elements involved in that illegal business.
He also prayed to the court to direct the respondents to formulate a law to check that practice. The court, after hearing the petitioner at length, issued notices to the respondents and rose for the day.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) upheld the objection raised by her office directing the petitioner to submit details of the detainees for which the petition was filed before the court.
The PPPP has approached the august court with prayer to direct the respondent jail officials to release all those party workers who were arrested on the arrival of Asif Ali Zardari in Lahore.
The LHC office had objected that whereabouts of all the detainees should be mentioned in the petition. The LHC office had placed the petition before the court to hear the objection.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel, upheld the objection and rejected the plea of the petitioner.
