India said it was ready to accept any suitable date for the twice postponed 13th Saarc summit in Dhaka if it is acceptable to other members of the grouping. These views were expressed by External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh during a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Morshed Khan in Jakarta Saturday night on the sidelines of the Asian-African summit. The issue of rescheduling the Saarc summit was raised by Morshed Khan and the Indian External Affairs Minister expressed willingness to any date acceptable to a 11 members, Indian External Affairs Minister spokesman said on Sunday.
Pakistan is the current chairman of South Asia Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) and Bangladesh will have the chairmanship after it hosts the summit.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with Nepal King Gyanendra, held in Jakarta on Saturday is of significance amid indications of India's willingness to attend the 13th Saarc summit to be held in Dhaka.
