Father of Sialkot rape-victim Nazish has deplored failure of the government to provide justice to his daughter, and demanded justice at the earliest. Asghar Bhatti expressed these feelings while addressing a press conference here on Saturday. His ill-fated daughter and wife also accompanied him. Bhatti said rather than getting justice her daughter was facing character assassination, and it seemed there was no one in the country who could give justice to his family.
According to him, he used all channels to seek justice. He went to Haji Nawaz of Chief Minister's Secretariat on February 26 for the recovery of her daughter. Later, he visited Principal Secretary to Chief Minister G M Sikander, who pinned his card on the application and forwarded to DPO Sialkot, but the latter paid no heed to the application and tore it, saying he had read it and an immediate action would be taken. Till today they await that action.
The victim alleged the Punjab Chief Minister has failed to take action against the DPO Sialkot for not investigating the case for the sole reason that the accused was a son of an Army General. "The police have alleged that I was a bad character girl and a drug addict. I challenge them to prove the allegations. Apart from being forcefully drugged for 37 days by the abductors, I never used any kind of drugs and medical test would prove that," she added.
