Wheat harvesting has been started in middle of the current month in Sialkot district. The wheat was sown over 0.4.7 million acres in Daska, Sialkot and Pasrur tehsils of Sialkot district. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the overall condition of the crop is quite satisfactory and it is expected that the fixed target would be achieved more easily in the district.
The wheat was sown on 0.1.7 million acres in Daska, 0.1.5 million acres in Pasrur and 0.1.4 million acres in Sialkot tehsils of the district.
Meanwhile, the District Food Department had made foolproof arrangements for purchasing the wheat from the growers in Sialkot and Narowal districts. The department had set up as many as 10 wheat purchase centres in Sialkot district of which two in Sialkot, three in Daska, four in Pasrur and one in Sambrial tehsils of the district while four in Narowal district to facilitate the wheat growers.
The food department will purchase wheat at the price of Rs 400 per maund while per bag three rupees would also be provided to the growers as delivery charges at wheat purchase centres established in Sialkot and Narowal districts.
