A two-day International Islamic Economic and Cultural conference will commence here from April 25, in which renowned economists from Muslim countries will participate. The conference being organised under the auspices of Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) would spread over four sessions. About 100 foreign delegates from Muslim countries will attend the moot.
Leading Muslim economists, including President Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr Ahmad Mohammad Ali, Secretary General ICCI, Aqeel A Al-Jassem, Secretary General, Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will speak during the inaugural session, while Dewan Abdullah, Managing Director, Dewan Group of Industries, Pakistan, will present welcome address.
Federal Minister for Industries, Jehangir Khan Tareen will read a paper on 'Islamic World at Present' during the second session, while Dr Habib Ahmad from IDB will present paper on "Increasing Trade among IDB member countries; scope and IDB's role."
Technical Advisor on the WTO from Indonesia, Marzuki Usman will deliver lecture on "Micro Financing Experience and Indonesia" followed by discussion and question-answer session.
Honourary member of the ICCI and former President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iftikhar Ali Malik will host a dinner for visiting distinguished delegates.
It is for the first time that the leading personalities in economic sector are visiting Pakistan to attend the conference, which include Dato Seri Rafidah Aziz, Minister for International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Federal Minister for Investment, Senator Haji Zainal Abidin, Senator of Pattani, Thailand, Ms Somchint Pilouk, Project Manager, Halal Food Industrial Estate, Thailand, Dr Issufo Sanha, Minister for Commerce and Tourism, Guinea Bissau, Mahmood Al Saed, Minister of Culture, Syrian Arab Republic and other economists from Turkey, Togo, Bahrain and from host country will present papers on different topics during the working session of second day.
