The family members of Pakistan Embassy (in Iraq) official Malik Muhammad Javed, freed by his kidnappers in Iraq, called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here on Monday and thanked him for his personal interest in securing Javed's safe release. The family members included Captain Ghulam Sarwar (Retd)- uncle of Malik Javed, his mother, wife and children.
The Prime Minister told them the government had spared no effort to secure Javed's safe release and it also solicited the help of friendly countries and others. He appreciated the courage and fortitude exhibited by the family in facing the 15-day ordeal. The Prime Minister said Malik Javed would join his family members very soon as Pakistan Embassy was working to finalise the programme of his return.
Later, talking to newsmen Captain Ghulam Sarwar (Retd) highly appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister and Foreign Office for safe release of Malik Javed. He said Prime Minister kept the family members informed about the efforts of the government and himself conveyed the happy news of release by phone. He said the family members pray for long life and success of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and all others who helped bring about Javed's release.
Ghulam Sarwar also thanked Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khusro Bakhtiar and other officials of the Foreign Office for their efforts.
