Federal Minister for Health, Nasir Khan said that ministry is planning to provide hostel facilities to all doctors in their hospitals. The ministry will announce the plan soon, he added while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of "Lady Doctors Hostel" at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), here on Tuesday. "Lady Doctors Hostel" will have accommodation for around 80 female doctors. The 40 rooms hostel will have a library, gymnasium and table tennis court. It will be completed in next eight months.
Nasir Khan said that the facility would be available especially in remote areas because doctors avoid going there for lack of accommodation.
The federal minister said that the ministry would prepare a strategy to eradicate pollen allergy and will launch a campaign in Islamabad to cut down those plants that cause the disease.
He said that cardiac centre at PIMS will be completed soon at a cost of Rs 11.5 million to provide better cardiac health services to the public.
Talking about the future projects, he said that our next concern is to control Hepatitis 'B' and 'C', which is one of major killers in Pakistan due to poor quality of drinking water.
Executive Director of PIMS, Prof. Fazle Hadi, Country Representative World Health Organisation, Dr Kalife Bali, Head of Hematology Division, Prof. Khalid Hassan and Dr Waseem Khawaja were also present in the ceremony.
