The Selection Board for promotion of officers from lieutenant colonel to colonel/brigadier commenced at the General Headquarters here on Wednesday. President General Pervez Musharraf chaired the board. On special invitation, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also attended the first session of the Selection Board. He was briefed about the promotion system in the Army, the stringent promotion criteria and procedures adopted for promotion of Army officers, to the higher ranks.
The Prime Minister appreciated the process of evaluation being followed by the Selection Board, which could have applicability on the civil side. The selection board will continue its meetings till April 29.
