The Collectorate of Customs, Preventive, on Tuesday night at the Karachi Port recovered 22 kg heroin, valued at about $2.2 million in the international market, and booked for investigation the unknown Peshawar-based exporter of wooden furniture. A press release of the Collectorate issued on Wednesday said that a consignment of wooden furniture, meant for export to Kuwait through Karachi Port was checked, and was found containing 75 wooden doors. Out of these 75 doors, nine were found containing brown heroin.
The contraband weighed 22 kg, which would cost $2.2 million in the international market. A case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997 has been registered against the Peshawar based exporter, World Plus International, Peshawar, and others. Efforts to arrest the culprits are underway.-PR
