The Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has recorded statement of a witness in Shaukat Aziz suicide attack case on Wednesday and adjourned hearing till April 30. Judge of the ATC-2, Safder Hussain Malik, while starting the proceedings of the case recorded the statement of Javed Aziz, one of the four prosecution witnesses, against 8 suspects of the suicide bombing attack. It may be recalled that the police had arrested 8 suspects in the suicide case, including three real brothers namely Abdul Manam, Abdul Basit and Nisar Ahmed.
They were pronounced as activists of the defunct terrorist outfits Jaish-e-Muhammad and Jamiat-ul-Furqan and key planners of the suicide attack on Shaukat Aziz.
Two suicide bombers attacked Shaukat Aziz when he was returning from a public meeting during his election campaign for the National Assembly. Shaukat remained unhurt in the incident, while seven people, including a suicide bomber Irfan died in the attack, while 25 others received injuries.
