Pakistan and the United States on Tuesday discussed environmental issues, including clean water, air and fuel, sources said. The matter came up under discussion at a meeting. Federal Minister for Environment, Tahir Iqbal Khan, now on a brief visit to Washington, held this meeting with Judith Ayres, assistant administrator for International Affairs of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They discussed matters as how to lower pollution content, provision of safe drinking water, matter of hazardous vehicle emissions and possibility of co-operation in emission control technology.
On the occasion the Environment Minister briefed the EPA official of the steps now being taken in Pakistan to contain pollution and to keep environment clean and safe.
Judith Ayres appreciated the efforts and shared views on possibility of any bilateral co-operation.
The Environment Minister is scheduled to meet deputy assistant secretary for National Energy, at the US Department of Energy on Wednesday.
