A central leader of People's Labour Bureau Pakistan, Habibuddin Junaidee, on Wednesday said that indiscriminate transfers and postings of officers of Habib Bank were aimed at harassing the staff and creating circumstances leading to their resignation or acceptance of golden handshake scheme. He said that officers in large numbers were being transferred to far off places to man branches which are either loss making or were still in the initial stages of setting up.
He said that these administrative actions were meant to create a situation where officers would prefer to proceed on long leave or resign from jobs or accept golden handshake. "It all appear to me that the management is harassing them or settling old scores," he said.
He said that the so-called golden handshake scheme (VSSS-2005) was being used to coerce officers to leave their jobs.
He said that 'pocket' trade unions had been harmful to HBL and its employees. "These pocket unions with the support of the administration have stabbed bank employees in their backs," he added.
Junaidee said that PLBP has demanded of the HBL administration to withdraw all transfer and posting orders and those who had complied with the orders should be brought back to their original places of postings. Earlier on Tuesday Junaidee had met officers of the HBL and addressed their gathering. Officers and employees of different grades attended the meeting in large number.
