Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that in order to make Pakistan Muslim League (PML) a party of the masses in the real sense and to popularise its manifesto at grass root level, the PML offices would be set up in every union council. He was presiding over a meeting regarding PML reorganisation here on Thursday, disclosed an official. Provincial Minister and PML General Secretary Punjab Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, District Nazim Lahore Mian Amir Mehmood and President PML Lahore Mian Munir Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi directed party office-bearers to activate PML's media committees for providing factual information to the media for the benefit of masses. He said the proposals and suggestions received at the party offices regarding uplift of respective areas and betterment of people should be scrutinised and implemented so as to promote a confidence in the people that their recommendations were given due importance by the government.
According to him, the statement issued by the PML leader would be the party line and all PML organisations and office-bearers should consider it as the party policy. People should also be duly apprised of the reforms introduced in different departments.
He directed Chaudhry Zaheeruddin to accelerate the pace of development activities in the provincial metropolis so that their benefits should reach the people as soon as possible. He stressed the need for further activating PML throughout the province and added that it was essential to strengthen and consolidate the party for ensuring good governance. "Party leadership would take effective steps to improve the behaviour of such officers and party office-bearers who were not people-friendly so that masses should not face any problem regarding redressal of their grievances," he added.
