Metro Cash and Carry International Group of Germany would set up a network of its stores in Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Islamabad where quality fruits and vegetables, mutton, beef, fish and poultry products would be available to consumers. Punjab Agriculture Marketing Minister Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon disclosed this while talking to newsmen after meeting with a three-member delegation of Metro Cash and Carry Group here on Thursday.
The delegation was led by International Affairs of Metro Group Vice President Heinrich O.E. Birr while its other members included Johannes Weissbach, Division Manager of Project Services, and W.H. Muller, President Asia Pacific and Russia, France.
Provincial Minister for Industries Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, Special Secretary Agri Marketing Muhammad Yousaf, Chief Executive Punjab Agriculture Marketing Company Mansoor Arfeen and Director Farmers Associates Zafar Hayat were also present on the occasion.
The minister welcomed the decision of investment by Metro Group in Pakistan and assured full co-operation to the company on behalf of agri marketing department Punjab and Punjab agriculture marketing company.
He said that the setting up of these stores would not only promote contract farming but national economy as well. Rana Qasim Noon further said that the Punjab government was determined to provide all out guidance and facilities to foreign investors in Punjab.
