Lahore High Court has issued a notice to SHO Haidyara Police Station and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing in a petition filed by a PPPP MNA Samina Khurkhi. The petitioner approached the court and pleaded it to direct the respondents to quash the FIR registered against her in the Haidyara Police Station. She contended that she was not involved in any illegal activities or in any criminal cases. She said that respondent SHO illegally and without lawful authority registered a FIR against her on the eve of her party leader Asif Ali Zardari's arrival.
The petitioner was of the view that it was political workers fundamental rights to move freely, but the respondent police official restrained her and other PPPP workers from receiving their leader.
She therefore prayed to the court to declare the action of the respondent as illegal and without lawful authority, and direct him to quash the FIR in question. The court after hearing his counsel at length issued notice to respondent SHO and directed him to appear before the court along with the record on next date of hearing.
