A judge of special court for suppression of terrorist activities allowed bail to about 250 workers of PPPP arrested during the arrival of former Senator Asif Ali Zardari here on Thursday. While allowing the bail to the PPPP workers, the court observed that the challan of all the accused must be submitted before the courts of original jurisdiction. The PPPP workers had approached the court through their counsel Main Hanif Tahir.
Their counsel contended before the court that all the accused were political workers and added that the respondent police officials on the behest of their high ups register cases against them under the provisions of Anti Terrorist Act.
He said that the cases were fake and registered without lawful authority. He therefore prayed to the court to set aside the FIRs registered against the workers and release them in accordance with the law.
The court however allowed them bail and directed to submit their challan before the courts of original jurisdiction.
A large number of PPPP workers were present in and outside the court room for receiving their relatives and workers.
