The vice-chancellor of University of Health Sciences (UHS), Professor Malik Hussain Mubashar has said the varsity had the vision to develop an original research culture in Pakistan and intended to produce more and more high class scholars in medical sciences. Addressing the postgraduate students of the university here on Saturday, Mubashar asked M. Phil and Ph.D students to undertake research on new ideas so that their work could be recognised internationally.
He advised them to select topics of obesity, diabetes, kidney, liver, lung disorder, as these were the common diseases prevailing in the society. He said there was great scope of research on cross-cultural pharmacology and Alzheimer's disease.
He also listened to the problems of students and assured them of providing all administrative and financial support. He said he would personally contact public hospitals for the provision of clinical material to UHS students for research purposes.
Students were also told that the establishment of an on-campus library was in process and the students had already been provided online access to the digital library where 17,000 journals were available.
