More than a dozen rallies were organised in Multan by industrial workers, political and social activists, farmers, lawyers, and women while talks on problems faced by workers, contract system, labour policy and other topics were held. At least 20,000 workers joined these rallies. National Trade Union Federation of Pakistan organised a rally from Chowk Dera Adda and terminated at Press Club. Participants were carrying red flags, banners and placards inscribed with slogans, 'Implement ILO Charter', 'Stop downsizing/right sizing in financial institutions', 'Privatisation Not Acceptable', 'Salute to Martyrs of Chicago', 'No New Labour Policy', 'Repeal IRO-2002', 'Restore Workers' Rights', etc.
The rally was led by Ghulam Abbas Langaria, Mehfooz Khan, Comrade Yamin, Muhammad Iqbal, and Babar Soekarno.
Labour Rights Committee organised a labour conference on 'Condition of Labour in Pakistan' at a local hotel where Musawar Hussain Naqvi, Nasir Ali Shah, Muhammad Ali Bhara, Farhat Abbas Khan, M A Bhutta, Riaz Khakwani were present. A rally was organised to pay homage to martyrs of Chicago.
May Day committee took out a big procession from Chowk Ghanta Ghar. The procession was led by Mehfooz Khan Shujaat, Mansoor Karim Siyal, Sultan Sangti, Yamin, Ghulam Abbas Daha, Khan Bahadur, Intikhab Liaquat, Muhammad Hussain Thaheem, Dr Kishore Murad, Irshad Ahmed, Masud Butt and Allah Bakhsh.
