Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi speaking in a seminar on agriculture in a local hotel on Sunday, said the provincial government would spend Rs 2 billion on agricultural business and marketing development in the province. Speaking specifically about provincial government's endeavours in agri research in Punjab, the chief minister said that Rs 1 billion would be spent under this head. Pervaiz Elahi said the provincial government would spend Rs 28 billion on the Agricultural Package of President Pervez Musharraf in next three years.
The chief minister said the government was taking stern steps against people involved in making spurious drugs.
He said his government while increasing rates of cotton had now kept the price of wheat at Rs 400 per maund in the province. The chief minister said that a foreign company was making a huge investment in the agriculture sector of the province.
