Pakistan Muslim League has up-beaten nationalist groups specially in lower Balochistan i.e. Bela and Mekran districts, Jewani, Turbat, Awaran, Panjgur, and people were largely turning to PML, which is the creator and now builder of Pakistan. Ashraf Iqbal Ballot, Advisor to Balochistan Chief Minister, told APP that witnessing record development mainly mega projects, the PML membership was fast increasing day by day in the entire province. There was increasing acknowledgement amongst the people that the PML was making all sincere and serious efforts for their socio-economic uplift.
Whereas, they had noted that the 'so-called' nationalist sardars had their own agenda in the name of Balochs' welfare and rights, he added.
He said the Balochistan people had welcomed the vision of President General Pervez Musharraf and expressed full confidence in PML policies and dynamic and sincere leadership of CM Balochistan Jam Mohammad Yousaf who is also President PML-Balochistan.
He claimed that the PML candidate Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hassni, who said good-bye to the Pakistan People's Party, would win the bye-elections on National Assembly seat (Awaran-Panjgur).
He expressed the hope that the PML and its allies would also sweep next local bodies and general elections.
The advisor pointed out that some tribal chieftains, who were now making hue and cry had a chance to rule Balochistan couple of times, but they did nothing good for the province and the people. Even a single inch development not carried out in their governments, he said.
In 1973, in the name of nationalism they even pushed out non-Ballot qualified school and college teachers from the province and Balochs had to face great educational loss over decades due to irrational move, he noted.
Giving account of major development projects of the present government for Balochistan, which are in pipeline, the PML leader said one billion dollar MoU had been signed with Chinese company for upgrading the railway track in Balochistan.
Besides, the largest desalination plant of the world was being set up at Gwadar. The USA company had reached agreement for this purpose. This plant would be of great importance for Gwadar seaport and Gwadar city, which would be soon turned into international hub of commercial and industrial activity.
He said Gwadar had already been declared tax-free zone for next 30 years, which would help bring maximum investment there.
President General Pervez Musharraf or Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz are likely to inaugurate Gwadar industrial zone next month.
The industrial zone, which would be equipped with international standard facilities and many incentives, had already emerged as place of high interest for local and foreign investors. Gwadar seaport was also being further deepened, he said.
Road network of international standard was being constructed in the province. Besides, other on-going highway projects like Coastal Highway, the work on Motorway, Gwadar-Ratodero - Punjab, had been started.
A contract for Gwadar-Iran High way had also been awarded and the work would begin soon, he said.
The construction work of Mirani dam near Gwadar was on its full swing, which would also prove a great source of development in the area. Besides, Sawar Dam project had also been taken up.
On tourism side, many companies had started developing resorts along the Coastal belt of Balochistan, Kalmat, Ormara, Gwadar, Kund Malir (near Agur) are amongst these resorts. Country clubs and five star hotels were also being set up.
He claimed that over the history of Pakistan, it is the PML government, which had carried out development in Balochistan.
Ashraf Iqbal Ballot said Pasni Power Project, Mini air ports of Pasni and Gwadar, Gwadar seaport, Gwadar Fish Harbour, Coastal Highway, Akra Dam etc, were other gifts of the present regime for the Balochistan people.
