State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Ali Asjad Malhi has said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had approved the project of widening of BRB canal bridge and work on this project would be carried out in near future. Addressing a public meeting here on Saturday, he added that at present the people were facing serious hardships due to traffic chaos on the bridge and the completion of project would ensure the flow of heavy traffic between Daska and rest of the Punjab province.
Ali Asjad further said that more than Rs 100 million were being spent on the improvement of sewerage system and work on this programme was briskly underway, adding that completion of sewerage system would help improving the hygienic condition in the city.
The minister said that all available resources were being mobilised for uplift of the rural and urban areas of Daska tehsil.
He disclosed that Rs 20 million were being spent on the provision of Sui gas and under the programme every locality would be provided gas facility in the city.
Ali Asjad assured the people to provide all modern facilities to the dwellers of Daska tehsil, adding that the present regime was deeming in the promotion of true democracy in the country.
The minister called upon the people to extend their co-operation and support to the Prime Minister for bringing revolutionary changes in every sphere of life as well as to convert the country into the developed state of the globe.
The government was making all out efforts for weeding out the menace of unemployment, poverty and illiteracy from the country, he claimed. Addressing the meeting, Tehsil Nazim Sialkot Muhammad Akmal Cheema revealed that the Punjab Chief Minister had announced a special package of Rs 6 billion for undertaking development projects pertaining to public welfare in Sialkot district.
Cheema urged upon the people to strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister and the President for the elimination of poverty, illiteracy and economic stability in the country. Many other speakers also spoke on the occasion.
