Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will inaugurate a three-day international ulema conference on 'Population Development' being held here from May 4 to 6. Fifty-four eminent ulema and scholars from 29 countries are expected to participate. Imam-e-Ka'aba and Imam Masjid-e-Nabvi, scholars from Qum, Iran, Al-Azhar, Egypt and other renowned scholars/ulema will be among the participants. This conference will strive to consolidate the findings from individual countries, understanding and experiences in implementing Islamic practices for the benefit of their society.
The conference will specifically strive to present a clear picture of true Islamic teachings regarding social development, highlight Islamic teaching regarding mother and child health, dispel misconceptions about Islamic perception on population issues and exchange experiences of various Muslim countries about planning for the welfare of the family and the population.
Key scholars and thinkers of the Islamic world are invited to share their success stories relating to social development. Critical development issues currently being faced by the Muslim Ummah will be the focal theme of this conference with special emphasis on maternal and child health, education and women rights.
