Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has transferred a limited number of employees to certain locations, from regions with identified surplus staff. This was announced in a statement of the bank issued here on Monday. It pointed out that the HBL had offered a highly attractive voluntary staff separation scheme for certain cadres of employees. In response to this scheme, which ended on April 25, over 2000 employees had opted to avail the benefit of the scheme. As a result several operational-level positions have become vacant at different locations throughout the country.
In order to ensure continued efficient operations of the bank in these locations, and to maintain the quality of customer services, the bank had transferred a limited number of employees to such locations from regions with identified surplus staff.
Meanwhile, official sources at HBL stated that all organisations, national or multinational, relocate staff as and when needed to meet requirements of the organisation.
This is a common business practice in all organisations, which is necessary to keep the organisation functioning properly and effectively, it was further pointed out.
Transfers undertaken at the HBL should, therefore, be seen in their proper perspective and background. Currently about 100 staff members in Pakistan are being relocated to fill the vacant positions, which have been, and will be, on the basis of the needs of the business and the organisation, the statement said.
