A 35-member delegation of Chinese armed forces headed by Colonel Chen Dongdeng, Vice Provost of the National University of Defence Technology arrived here on Tuesday on the second leg of his official visit to Pakistan. The day long itinerary at provincial metropolis included a wreath laying ceremony at Mazar-e-Iqbal, visit to historical places and Wagha border. The dignitary from the friendly country along with his 35-member entourage started their day with the visit to the mausoleum of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal where they laid a floral wreath to pay homage to the great poet philosopher of the east.
Thereafter, they visited the Badshahi Mosque where the distinguished guests were apprised about the historical background of the grand mosque constructed under the patronage of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir.
At the Lahore Fort they went around Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas and Sheesh Mahal and appreciated the architectural marvel of the Mughal era. Later the delegation also visited Lahore Museum.
In the evening the Chinese delegation went to Wagha, where they witnessed a Pak-India border closing ceremony. This event though a daily feature is excellent drills by smartly turned out uniformed personnel of border security forces of both neighbouring countries, which attracts large crowds chanting full throated slogans to infuse further enthusiasm in the flag lowering ceremony.
