Southeast Asia's biggest computer data network builder, Datacraft Asia Ltd, and US network computer maker Sun Microsystems Inc announced a partnership on Wednesday to offer storage solutions to Asian customers. The alliance offers consulting and other services in areas such as data centre, storage and data management to clients in Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. Datacraft Chief Executive Bill Padfield said he expected the partnership to contribute meaningfully to the company's storage revenues within a year. "It will be a modest contribution to start with, but 12 months away from now, we see some pretty good numbers coming in," Padfield told reporters.
"We've seen triple-digit growth in our storage business in the last couple of years, and (the partnership with Sun) will help accelerate that growth over the next 12 to 24 months."
Datacraft, a unit of South African information technology group Dimension Data, competes with Hewlett-Packard Co Ltd and International Business Machines Corp in building networks for banks and telecoms and technology firms.
