Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade closed higher early Thursday in quiet consolidation trading after the fall to new contract lows earlier this week, traders said. CBOT corn closed 1-1/4 to 2 cents per bushel higher. May was up 1-3/4 at $1.99-3/4 per bushel. July was up 2 at $2.08. Traders said they were starting to watch weather patterns in the eastern Midwest that were starting to show drier weather.
