Leading corporations and multinational companies of the United States are looking for foreign destinations for business process outsourcing (BPOs). "The environment and infrastructure in Pakistan is more conducive for the call centres business and we are looking for investors here." US-based call centres tycoon and WorldBridge Connect President and CEO Gurujot Kalsa stated this, while addressing a press briefing at a hotel here on Friday. While appreciating the economic policies of President General Pervez Musharraf, he said, "We already had an office in Lahore and now we are setting up an office in Karachi."
He said that we are also looking for highly educated English speaking people, who are in abundance in Pakistan."
Kalsa said that we are trying to address the issue of joblessness and are finding investors in Pakistan for the project, which would help in creating job opportunities.
He said the US companies are looking for alternatives because they want to have multiple locations and not wanted to remain in one location. "We first came to Pakistan about three-and-a-half-year ago as the business environment here was stable," he added. Earlier, provincial Information Technology Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal welcomed Kalsa and his team.
The minister said his ministry has arranged a conference on call centres on Saturday. He said the present government is taking several steps to bring together local as well as international business community.
