City District Government Karachi (CDGK) is preparing a master plan in collaboration with Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to improve infrastructure facilities in the industrial areas of metropolis. This was stated by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan at dinner hosted by Landhi Association of Trade and Industry (LATI) on Thursday. He said that industrial development boards for four industrial areas have been constituted for effective co-ordination of concerned departments. He was of the opinion that master plan will help in improving infrastructure in the industrial areas on integrated basis to provide a better environment to investors specially foreign investors in these areas.
Naimatullah Khan said that City government was also focussing on the movement of traffic flow and controlling pollution in the industrial area. He invited industrialists to constitute citizen community boards to avail 80 percent financial assistance from City Government and prepare and complete their projects themselves.
He instructed executive district officer enterprises, Raeesuddin Paracha to promote liaison between EDO community department and trade associations to create awareness about citizen community boards among industrialists and citizens. He pointed out that an Austrian company was setting up a sewerage treatment plant to provide treated water to factories. The initial agreement has been signed for this purpose between CDGK and the company, he added.
He said that City government was planning to set up more such plants in the metropolis to recycle sewage water for industrial purposes.
