Judicial Magistrate Multan Abdul Haq Jappa has issued non bailable warrants of eight activists of PPP including former Federal Minister for Law Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan and Secretary Information for southern Punjab Khawaja Rizwan Alam. The were not appearing in the case instituted against them on June 20, 2004 for hurling stones and bricks on the vehicle of then Federal Finance Minister and sitting Prime Minister Shaukat when he arrived here to launch Kissan Card of Alflah Bank.
The court ordered the police to produce PPP activists Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan, Khawaja Rizwan Alam, Sharifullah Khan, Tariq Raza Khan, Salim ur Rehman Mayo, Salim Shehzad, Manzoor Qadri and Kanwar Zahid Ahmed Khan before it on June 28, 2005. Cantonment police under section 341 PPC and 16-MPO booked them.
However, PPP leadership denied these allegations and said that Pakistan Seraiki Party was staging a demonstration in front of Multan Press Club that day and a few members rapped on Shaukat Aziz's vehicle while PPP activists were staging silent protest.
