In order to streamline the flow of traffic around Lahore Railway Station, important link roads would be remodelled and encroachments would be removed from the area. A high-level meeting held here on Saturday decided this under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, disclosed an official. The Additional Chief Secretary, Inspector General Railway Police, Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Director General PHA and Managing Director Tepa were also present.
It was informed in the meeting that most of the vehicles coming towards Lahore Railway Station pass through Empress Road, McLeod Road and Allama Iqbal Road, therefore there was a need to pay immediate attention to improve the condition of these roads.
The meeting also considered improvement of the system of wagon and bus stands as well as construction of a multi-storey-parking plaza near the Railway Station. It was also decided to carry out necessary repair and construction of footpaths around Railway Station for convenience of the pedestrians, as well as beautification of the park in front of it.
