The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) through a resolution, has strongly condemned the police torture on journalists and decided to hold a rally to express solidarity with them. The bar president Fakharunnisa Khokhar will announce the date of the rally in consultation with the other bar office bearers. The bar members Ahmed Awais, Dr Farooq, S.M. Masood, Muhammad Afzal Malhi and others while addressing the meeting, expressed the resolve that democracy in the country is due to print media.
They said the government is bent upon to crush all the democratic institutions including judiciary, press and bar. They said that such actions of the government show that it wants to curtail the freedom of movement. They said that the journalists played a vital role in the struggle of lawyers against Legal Framework Order (LFO).
They said that the bar would continue its struggle against illegal and unconstitutional acts of the government and would not allow the government to crush the democratic institutions in the country.
