Sugar industry is ready to extend a helping hand to the government to formulate workable policies in the interest of all stakeholders, provided the government is willing to meet with the Pakistan Sugar Mills association (PSMA) and other stakeholders to thrash out the issues. This was stated by PSMA Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf here on Friday. In a press statement, Zaka pointed out the government is victimising the sugar industry on the basis of wrong information provided by certain vested elements in the government. He said the sugar prices in the international market increased once the government announced its decision to import 1 million tons sugar.
He urged the Prime Minister to immediately call a meeting of all stakeholders including sugarcane growers, sugar industrialists, wholesale dealers and consumers to achieve consensus.-PR
