A plane carrying 15 people crashed in bad weather in far north-east Australia on Saturday and it appeared there were no survivors, police said. Queensland state police told Reuters the burnt-out wreckage of the plane had been found 9 km (6 miles) north-west of the remote Aboriginal community of Lockhart River on Cape York peninsula, a sparsely populated region. "Emergency services are on the scene ... the aircraft list shows there were two crew and 13 passengers on board," a police spokeswoman said. Rescue officials earlier said that 18 people were on the plane.
