Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will observe protest day on May 13 throughout the country against the desecration of the Holy Quran by US forces. This was stated by a central leader of the MMA Liaqat Baloch and Pir Ejaz Hashmi here on Sunday. They said the feeling of the entire Pakistani nation has been hurt due to desecration of the Holy Quran by the US armed forces and publication of a humiliating cartoon by an American newspaper. A Protest Day will be observed throughout the length and breadth of the country to condemn the action of the opponents of Islam and Pakistan, they pointed out.
Addressing a press conference here at Al-Markaz Al-Islami they held the view that the concept of "Enlightened Moderation " by President Musharraf has emboldened the US and the West to openly hurl attack on Islam and the Muslims.
"It is a matter of great shame for us if we kept silent on attack on our faith and prestige", they observed. They pointed out that this issue would also be raised in the National Assembly.
They further said that the lawlessness and incidents of kidnapping for ransom are on the increase in the country. On this occasion they also criticised President Musharraf's stand on Kashmir and accused him of betraying the Kashmiris. The people of Pakistan will never leave the Kashmiri people alone, they expressed their resolve.
They also lauded the services of Syed Ali Gilani of APHC for Kashmir cause. They referred to Syed Gilani's statement in which he criticised the visits of President Musharraf to Agra and New Delhi.
Regarding the LB elections they said that due to in-fight among the ruling party, the announcement of dates of the LB elections is being delayed which is a violation of LB Act.
Vice President MMA Punjab Syed Abdul Jalil Naqvi, Dr Javed Akhtar, engineer, Rana Amjad Hussain, Azeem Rind and others were also present on this occasion.
