Shalimar Television Network will have new look with new logo from June this year and start presentation of news, current affairs and other programmes. The airtime of STN has been allocated to Sports Star International (Pvt) Limited being the highest bidder among the three bidders. An agreement for a period of three years was signed recently by Managing Director and CEO of Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Corporation (SRBC) Anwar Jahangir and Managing Director, SSI Abdul Jabbar.
The Sports Star International (Pvt) Limited will start its transmission on STN with effect from June.
The SSI will broadcast entertainment programmes besides news and current affairs, sports educational and informative programmes round the clock.
This SSI is engaged in programming and marketing of TV programmes since last two decades, said SSI Managing Director Abdul Jabbar.
Anwar Jahangir said, Managing Director and CEO of SRBC and STN said from June this year, the STN will have a fresh look with new logo, the channels programming will be target towards all segments of the society and shall abide by all the norms.
He said STN is broadcasting since 1990 and it is a channel owned by SRBC; incorporated in 1947.
He said the STN is a national broadcaster, a satellite as well as terrestrial free to air TV channel.
The STN has a span over the cities and towns of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupttra, Kasur, Kamoki, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Multan, Shujabaad, Muzaffargarh Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Yazman, Daska, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Lalamusa, Chiwinda, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Chichawatni, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Kotri, Larkana, Mohenjodaro, Gambat, Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Sanqhar, Pano Aaqil, Shikarpur, Quetta, Khuzdar, Kalat, Sibi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsada, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Thandiani, Baatkhela and Mingora.
STN transmission reaches almost half the population of Pakistan, the viewership extends even to small towns of the country.
Anwar Jahangir said with 20 TV transmitting stations, the STN is poised to provide a quality transmission to its viewers in line with the government policy.
