The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested two persons for making a bid to smuggle 485kg of charas. ANF Joint Director Colonel Wasif Sajjad and Assistant Director Mubarak Ali while addressing a press conference here Monday said that ANF received a tip off that some smugglers were trying to transport large quantity of contraband (charas) from NWFP to Punjab. The ANF team set up pickets and spotted a white colour Toyota Corolla No 7886-LXR coming from Peshawar. When signalled to stop, the inmates of the vehicle opened fire on the law enforcers and tried to flee, but after a hot chase, ANF approached the car.
Upon search 485kg of charas was recovered from the hidden cavities of the vehicle. Two persons Nabi Jan of Peshawar and Muhammad Jameel of Nowshera were arrested while the car was impounded.
