The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is to launch a campaign to apprise growers, ginners and spinners about the losses, which are being incurred due to the use of contaminated cotton in textile manufacturing for export. The EPB in a circular to textile associations said that during the campaign the Bureau would educate them of the best practices to avoid contamination. It has requested the associations to intimate the Bureau about per annum loss incurred by their members due to the use of cotton mixed with foreign particles.
The textile exporters have been asked to convey to the Bureau quantum of increase in exports if the cotton is made free of impurities. Associations have also been asked to send any suggestions in this regard to the Bureau.
The EPB said that since the campaign was due to be launched soon through the print and electronic media it would be appreciated if the required information was passed on to the Bureau at the earliest.
