Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Tuesday the decision for conducting the local bodies elections would be taken soon. Replying to a question while talking to media-persons after inaugurating an exhibition here, he said, "a tough and interesting fight would be seen among the local bodies contestants of the three provinces but we will emerge winner with thumping majority in Punjab." He said the political situation in the country is normal and things are moving on their routine path.
When his attention was drawn towards the cartoon carried by a section of the US media, he said the whole nation is protesting against it.
"The US media should avoid issuing such type of objectionable material that harms the feelings of the Muslim world," he said.
Earlier, inaugurating an exhibition organised by National Textile Institute (NTI), Sheikh Rashid Ahmed urged the students to concentrate upon acquiring technical education. He asked the male students to improve their skills by putting more efforts in the education sector.
He appreciated the work of the students of the NIT, who had embossed different designs on cloth.
He said Rawalpindi campus of National College of Arts Lahore would be inaugurated during the current month thus providing the youth of the area to acquire quality education and skill.
He said the new campus would be housed in the existing building which was being used as warehouse by the Customs Department.
In his address of welcome the Principal of NIT Mohammad Rana Hanif shed light on the working and performance of the institute which was established a couple of years back.
An impressive and attractive artwork by the students of the NIT was put on display at the exhibition.
