Next round of talks between Pakistan and the United States on Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) will be held in Islamabad during the current month. "This is part of efforts to boost Pakistan-US economic ties," Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan told newsmen at the inaugural session of two-day conference on 'SME Financing: Issues and Strategies' at a local hotel here on Tuesday. To a question about the widening trade deficit, he said the increase in the non-food and non-fuel items especially the machinery would go a long way in expediting industrial development.
"This is a healthy sign for country's economy as it will help create more jobs and economic activity," he said.
To a question about European Union (EU) bedlinen case, Humayun Akhtar Khan said the review of selected samples was in progress in Dubai.
He hoped that Pakistan's exports would touch the mark of US $14 billion this year.
Responding to another query, he hoped that assemblies would complete their term.
