Pakistan Railways has upgraded three passenger trains as express trains without increasing their speed, minimising their stops and reducing the duration of journey with effect from May 10. Now passengers would have to pay 20 to 45 percent more fare for different destinations. Official sources said that fare has been increased for 129-up and 130-down Thal express between Multan and Rawalpindi via Kundian, Kotaddu & Basal, 139-up and 140 down Sandal Express between Multan-Sargodha via Jhang, Shaheenabad and Lahore-Sialkot 231-down and 232-up train.
Now Multan -Sargodha fare will be Rs 110 instead of Rs 85, Multan- Jhang Rs 80 instead of Rs 45, Multan-Rawalpindi Rs 200 from Rs 160, Multan-Mianwali Rs 120 instead of Rs 100, Multan-Leiah Rs 60 instead of Rs 45, Multan-Kotadu Rs 30 instead of Rs 25, Multan-Muzaffargarh Rs 10 instead of Rs 7.
