A crude bomb planted by freedom fighters ripped through a vehicle in the heart of Indian occupied Kashmir's main city of occupied Srinagar on Wednesday, killing two people and wounding 35 others. "It was a ground shaking explosion. I saw a huge cloud of dust and the injured were crying for help," witness Dilfiza Shah told Reuters. "Some of them were lying in pools of blood." Wednesday's blast was the deadliest attack by freedom fighters in occupied Srinagar since the two countries launched a cross-border bus service across the region early last month, seen as a key step in the peace process.
One those killed was a policeman. "The bomb was intended to target a police vehicle. Three police vehicles were damaged and seven policemen were injured," a police officer said. Half a dozen vehicles and several houses and shops were damaged in the blast in Jawahar Nagar, a residential area.
