Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Wednesday launched its 'Democracy Caravan' from Lahore to Sahiwal in the third phase of its mass contact campaign. Addressing the participants of the caravan at Mansoora, MMA Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that the US has caused chaos and unrest all across the world. "Muslims are being mercilessly killed and their holy places being desecrated," he added. Qazi said the desecration of the Holy Quran by US troops to cause mental agony to the Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay detention camp sent a wave of anger and unrest among the whole Muslim world.
He said the Muslim Ummah has taken upon itself to continue the mission of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) so that Islam should prevail upon all religions and justice and peace is established in the world. The MMA chief expressed desire to join the caravan whenever his health permitted him to do so.
Speaking on the occasion, the leader of the Opposition and MMA Secretary General Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the MMA has provided a platform not only to Pakistan but the whole Muslim world. The forces of infidelity under the leadership of the USA are attacking the freedom of Muslim Ummah. Muslims are being eliminated and humiliated, he maintained.
Fazlur Rehman said that the situation has reached to an extent where Muslims Holy book Quran has also been desecrated which amounted to humiliation of the whole Ummah.
The MMA will contact global Muslim movements to stage a world-wide protest day to condemn the US and its anti Muslim policies, he said and warned that the religious alliance would not tolerate the vilification of the Muslim Ummah. The MMA would continue its struggle to unite Muslims of the world on one platform, he added.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Liaquat Baloch, Pir Ijaz Hashmi, Dr Abdul Khairi Muhammad Zubair, Abdul Jalil Naqvi, Maulana Amjad Khan, Hafiz Riaz Durrani, Qari Gul Rehman and Rasheed Ludhianvi are leading the caravan, which would reach Sahiwal after passing through Bhai Pheru, Pattoki, Renala Khurd and Yousufwala.
