Pakistan U-21 hockey team has registered their second victory against the Dutch hockey club Schaerweijde, scoring four goals to one in a match yesterday, as Pakistan hockey tours to Europe.
This is the second consecutive victory in the on-going tour, earlier the green shirts defeated Voordaan Hockey club 6-3, bringing rare good news from the corners of Pakistan hockey that is currently going through its dark ages.
Tahir Zaman, head coach Pakistan U-21 team praised the team’s efforts and credited the training for getting the best out of the players. “They are responding to the training and their fitness levels are great, and players did not only put him in a remarkable performance, they also avoided the mistakes they made in the previous match” as per local media reported.
Coming to the match, the green shirts drew first blood in the when Sohail Riaz converted a penalty corner into a goal in the 13th minute, the Pakistan tally was added 15 minutes later when Shan Irshad found the net through another penalty corner.
“The other teams and their coaches are surprised to see our players performing so well; the opponents were hardly given a chance to attack” added Zaman.
