Three children were burnt to death when fire broke out in Nanakwara near Lakhpati Hotel in Ranchore Line area here on Thursday. The family of Ramji Babu, consisting of his wife, two daughters and a son, were living on the second floor of an old building in Nanakwara. Police and Edhi sources said that the parents of the victims used to lock up their house before leaving for their jobs, leaving children inside the home. They said that the parents left the 'Agarbati' they alighted for their Pooja, which fell on the clothes lying on the floor. The children were fast asleep when the fire broke out. The neighbours noted the smoke and flames coming out of the house and informed the police, but by the time fire tenders arrived, the children were burnt alive.
The deceased were identified as Chitan (10), Soono (7) and Neeto (6). Their bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital. This was the second tragic incident within a month in which children were burnt alive at home.
