The chairman Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE), Mohsin Syed has said that PIE will act as a catalyst in promoting environment-friendly industrialisation in the province. Addressing the first public hearing in this regard at a local hotel, attended by government representatives and all stake holders, he said that the combined effluent treatment plant (CETP) of PIE will function within the quality standards and discharge treated water suitable for tree plantation and irrigation purposes. This was disclosed in a press release issued here on Wednesday (May 18)-.
The CETP area has been clearly identified, said Syed, and the consultants commissioned for the treatment plant project are currently making a feasibility and designing report, while a transfer station area for solid waste management has also been allocated next to the CETP, he added.
He assured that recommendations of stake-holders will be incorporated in the EIA report prepared by the private firm as soon as possible.
The PIE chief further assured that emission will be much lower than the World Bank`s guidelines, owing to the good quality of gas to be supplied by SNGPL, while socially the project will provide job opportunities to the people of the area, he added.
