Grain exports from the French port of Rouen totalled 311,070 tonnes for May 1-18, including 260,441 tonnes of wheat and 50,629 of barley, port officials said on Tuesday. That compared with total grain exports of 570,000 tonnes in the whole of May last year, comprising 484,000 tonnes of wheat and 86,000 of barley. Officials said five vessels were in port, three loading 40,000 tonnes of wheat for Algeria and two loading 43,000 tonnes of barley for Saudi Arabia and Russia.
A further six vessels were expected by the end of the month to load 75,000 tonnes of wheat and 38,000 tonnes of barley for unspecified destinations.
