The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organisation and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Standing Committee on Women Entrepreneurs, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday. FICCI Ladies Organisation President Usha Agarwal and FPCCI Standing Committee on Women Entrepreneurs chairperson, Rukhsana Jahangir, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. According to the MoU, both the organisations have agreed to cooperate in the fields of trade, commerce and industry with systematic business promotional activities.
It said that both the organisations wish to provide a regular and recognised platform for promotion of systematic business activities among the women of both the countries. They also agreed to sign a MoU to establish "Pak-India Joint Women Entrepreneurs Council" under FPCCI and FICCI on the following terms and conditions:
-- Both the organisations would organise joint meetings in India and Pakistan respectively, for liaison and consultation between the businesswomen of both the countries at a mutually agreed time and venue.
-- Both the parties would take concrete steps to foster friendship and understanding between the businesswomen of India and Pakistan to promote co-operation in trade, investment, services and women economic empowerment.
-- They also agreed to exchange information regarding trade, economic co-operation and services between the two countries, particularly with regard to women entrepreneurs training.
-- Recommendations necessary for promoting more effective economic relations between the women entrepreneurs of both the countries may be submitted to the respective governments, if considered desirable, and both the sides would cooperate in receiving women entrepreneurs and technical experts, when considered appropriate.
