President Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League and former Chief Justice of AJK High Court, Justice Abdul Majeed Malik (Retd) has urged the international community to play a proactive role for the peaceful solution of lingering Kashmir dispute. Talking to APP here on Wednesday, he called for the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue according to the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Early peaceful solution of Kashmir problem was the need of hour for the establishment of everlasting peace in South Asia and according Kashmiris with the right of self-determination, he added.
Majeed Malik opined that current global policy of US might be helpful in gaining the right of self-determination and freedom for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian yoke. He asked the government to take Kashmiris into confidence on the latest move for resolution of all the differences between India and Pakistan including the core issue of Kashmir through composite dialogue.
The Kashmiri leader expressed hope that India would positively respond to Pakistan's persistent offer for result oriented talks any time and any where on all the issues particularly the peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue under the spirit of the UN resolutions, which clearly indicates the plebiscite.
He categorically said that Kashmiris would not accept any option other than their legitimate right of self-determination. He suggested the government of Pakistan to move to the table talk with India by fully taking the Jammu Kashmir people into confidence.
To a query about recent change in Indian attitude moving to resolve all differences with Pakistan including the core issue of Kashmir through dialogue, he said that although it was a good move but it depended upon the Indian attitude to this direction. He pointed out that India moved for the bilateral talks, whenever it was pressurised by the international community to resolve the outstanding issues including Kashmir with Pakistan through negotiations.
Majeed Malik said because of the stubborn attitude of India, the bilateral Indo-Pak talks held in the past always went flopped. He hoped that India would not repeat its stubborn policy during the process of meaningful talks.
