The Punjab University's Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) is conducting faculty development programme in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the Institute of Administrative Sciences. This programme is running from 9th May to 4th June 2005. Sixty-eight sessions are incorporated in eight modules. These include Microteaching, Educational Psychology, Advanced Teaching Skills, Curriculum and Material Development, Measure and Evaluation, Communication & Administrative/Planning Skills, Research Methodology and Computer Applications in Teaching Learning Process.
As many as 31 faculty members are participating from different departments of the University of Punjab, Lahore College for Women University, Government College for Women Gulberg and University of Education, Lahore.
Speaking on the topic of 'Leadership and Change Management in Public Sector Universities' vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood stressed that curriculum must fulfil our national needs. " If a teacher is good and the curriculum is not so good, the students will suffer. The curriculum should help make students creative and innovative", he said. He said that knowledge must be understood, comprehended, applied, analysed, synthesised, evaluated and interpreted.
On the occasion, Director HRDC, Dr Zafar Iqbal Jaddoon highlighted the need of the faculty development programmes and the role of the institute in conducting such programmes.
