Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro underlined the need for enhanced trade and business co-operation between Pakistan and India for the progress and prosperity of people of subcontinent. He was talking to a delegation of the Federation of the Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) led by Onkar S. Kanwar, President FICCI currently visiting Pakistan. Chairman Senate said that more contacts would promote trade relations and create better understanding between the people of two countries.
He further stated that desire of promoting bilateral relations in various fields and exchange of delegation at all levels is good omen for promoting bilateral relations between Pakistan and India.
The Chairman Senate further said that exchange of trade delegations could help augment trade and economic co-operation among the regional countries. He said that our region is confronted with the problem of poverty, which can be tackled through increased bilateral and regional trade among the members of the Saarc countries.
The leader of the Indian trade delegation said that the visit was aimed at forging relationship to create a win-win situation for both sides. He said that there is a lot of trade potential, which can be explored through bilateral efforts.
The FICCI delegation underlined infrastructure, setting up of bonded warehouses, transport facilitation, shipping linkages, tourism, visa facilitation, agriculture research, medical and healthcare as areas which need to be improved.
